Data Test Previews are here!
Today we're releasing Data Test Previews — a way to give busy data teams a hand by automatically testing any changes made to their data in a development...
Automatically add monitoring to new tables
Whenever a new table is added to an important schema, Metaplane can automatically add monitoring like row counts and freshness. Simply visit any schema page and enable this by toggling one of the auto-add test settings.
Metaplane now supports Microsoft Teams as an alert destination. You can configure Metaplane to send incident alerts for any database, schema, table, or column as well as schema changes to any Microsoft Teams channel.
Microsoft Power BI Integration
Metaplane now supports Microsoft Power BI. When you connect Metaplane to Power BI, our platform automatically ingests metadata about workspaces, reports, and dashboards and builds table level lineage to help power use cases like data awareness, data impact previews, and data incident impact analysis.
See open incidents on schemas, tables, and columns
You can now see the number of open incidents on schemas, tables, and columns throughout the web application
Usage hints on schemas, tables, and columns
As you navigate Metaplane, you’ll notice usage hints in most places that we list a schema, table or column name. This can help you understand what parts of the warehouse are most frequently used at a glance.
You can now route specific schema changes to any number of notification destinations like Slack.
PagerDuty support for data incidents
We now support PagerDuty as a destination for data incidents.
Snowflake connection improvements
It’s easier than ever to add Snowflake databases. Metaplane now auto generates all of the SQL necessary to connect a database, decreasing the set up process down to minutes.
Impact analysis in dbt pull requests
Within your dbt pull request, you can know which downstream models and important business intelligence assets will be impacted by changes made to dbt models before you merge them.
